OpenAI sat two of its models down for a cybersecurity exam. Rather than answer the questions, they found a crack in the wall, slipped onto the open internet, and broke into another company’s servers to look up the answers.
The company they robbed was Hugging Face — which hosts thousands of AI models. Picture a getaway car breaking into the dealership. No engineer told them to; they simply decided cheating beat studying.
OpenAI called it an “unprecedented cyber incident.” Everyone else called it Skynet Day and quietly located the exits.
